The end of the world?

Is December 21 2012 - The End of The World?

Until a couple of years ago there were not that many people who were acquainted with the end of the world 2012 prophecy that was put forward by many scholars who studied the end of the Mayan long calendar. This Long Count calendar has lasted for five thousand one hundred and twenty five years, and although the end of the calendar leads to many different interpretations, one of the most popular is the belief that at the end of this cycle the world (or humanity’s existence) will come to an abrupt end on December 12th, 2012.

Get a Professional View of The Processes of The 2012 Countdown Scientists Do Not Want You to Know

In order to fully understand the 2012 end of the world predications, then you should first understand the calendar that is at the center of this controversy. The current cycle, or baktun, of this calendar began on August 13th, 3114 B.C. This marked the end of the last period and the beginning of the current one. The baktun that we are currently living in is the thirteenth, and the end of this cycle is one that has been considered to have a large level of importance to the Mayan people, which is why so many people have come to the conclusion that this cycle’s end is one that will mean the end of the world as we know it.

While there is no definite proclamation of how the end of the world 2012 will happen, those who have studied this calendar claim that the long calendar was created in order to correspond with a long term astronomical prediction by the Mayan people. This has led some to believe that this end of the world scenario will play out in a manner that has something to do with something from beyond this world. While this correlation to something that is going on in outer space is not a definite thing, for some it comes from a basic understanding of Mayan culture and their unique understanding of astronomical phenomena and planetary alignments.

The Truth About Planet X - Nibiru
Something else that has been considered is the belief that the 2012 end of the world will come to Earth not through some planetary force outside of our galaxy, but through the power of our own sun. Some who have studied the timing of the 2012 prophesy and combined this knowledge with an understanding of the solar system believe that the end will come via a large solar flare. This flare will come about because of the infiltration of the orbits of the planets in our solar system by an outside orbiting planet that the Sumerians and the Babylonians referred to as Nibiru, and is sometimes referred to by modern scientists as Planet X. Those who subscribe to this theory believe that this planet only orbits through our system once every three thousand six hundred years.

In addition to this, these cultures believed that there were a race of people who lived on Nibiru that were known as the Anunnaki. According to their creation mythology this superior race of beings came to Earth and genetically engineered human beings. They did this because they needed to get gold ore from our planet in order to help save their own environment. The humans that they created helped them by mining the gold from Africa. The basis for this mythology was found in ancient writings that were recently uncovered in relation to the ancient Sumerians, and they documented this creation in detail in their writings. If they are correct, then the end of the world 2012 that is depicted in the Mayan calendar will also coincide with the return of the Anunnaki. In essence, it would be the return of our creators, and this is also something that is closely linked in with the belief that the Mayan calendar signals the forthcoming Apocalypse.

According to this 2012 end of the world philosophy, when this planetary body re-enters our system it will cause massive disruptions in the orbits of Jupiter, Uranus, Venus, and Earth. When Nibiru crosses our orbit they believe that it will cause the gases in Jupiter to ignite because it will get too close to the sun and the precarious balance that keeps its gas structure in check will be lost, therefore causing Jupiter to turn into a secondary sun. In combination with this, the solar flares that are released from the sun on a naturally reoccurring cycle are set to peak during the year 2012. It is believed that this occurrence in combination with the cycle of Nibiru will cause a massive amount of damage to the planet on a level that has never been seen before.

Planetary Alignment 2012
However, there are others who contend that the end of the world 2012 prophesy actually refers to a very rare planetary alignment that will occur during the winter solstice in the year 2012. At this time the entire Milky Way (including the earth and the sun) will align at a point that is known as the galactic equator. This alignment is so rare that it only happens every twenty five thousand years. It is thought that this rare planetary alignment could signal a shift in the magnetic poles. This polar shift has happened before in the distant past, and if it were to happen now it would cause massive destruction across the globe. Some claim that the reason the Mayan long calendar ends on this exact date is that something is going to happen in combination with this alignment, the introduction of Nibiru, and the solar flares. It can’t be a coincidence that all of these things are scheduled to happen at the same time that the Mayan calendar is set to come to its conclusion, can it?

If nothing else the 2012 end of the world prophesy that is brought about by the Mayan calendar does bring with it several questions about this culture’s knowledge of celestial events and happenings that they could not have possibly understood, let alone have mapped out to the extent that they did. Their understanding of the solar system, the planetary alignments, and other important events is something that cannot be easily explained or understood by most people who have studied this rare Mayan philosophy.

The end of the world 2012 scenario is one that frightens many people, but this does not have to be the case. Is this a shocking indictment of the American health system, and perhaps American society itself…

Published by huttriver under Uncategorized Edit This

Yes we can!Is this a shocking indictment of the American health sydtem, and perhaps of American society itself - medical health tourism a new industry…

Is this really a shocking indictment of the American health system, and perhaps of American society as well? Please read on:

A recent “20-20″ television program in New Zealand exposed the problems existing in the American health system. The particular story starts in Idaho Falls, USA. An American woman named ‘Heather’ required a full hip replacement. The basic cost in America was US$60,000 exclusive of all other costs involved.

But like 48 million other families, ‘Heather’and her family do not have, and cannot afford health insurance. Neither does she qualify for any form of government assistance, reserved for the very poor or those with identifiable needs. Sadly for her President Obama’s proposed health scheme, if passed into law, will be too late for ‘Heather’. She needs a full hip replacement now, or she will spend the rest of her life in a wheel-chair!

After some extensive online research, ‘Heather’ discovered she could get her hip-replacement offshore, not in a Third World country like Mexico for example, but in an English- speaking First World country down in the Pacific - New Zealand.

The total cost for ‘Heather’, inclusive of all associated medical costs, hotel bills and food for both her and a companion(her mother)would be US$23,000 all up!

‘Heather’ was able to find a foundation within the US who were prepared to pay half of her costs, and family and friends raised the other half. Then it was off to Auckland, New Zealand.

After flying to NZ and settling her mother into her hotel room, ‘Heather’ went to meet the surgeon responsible for her operation. She was interviewed and met the medical staff at the private hospital where the full hip operation was to be performed.

A new hip is guaranteed for about ten years, though some last indefinately.

She had her operation at a top private hospital in Auckland. They had the latest navigation system available to line-up her new hip.

Her operation was a complete success, and recovery took four weeks, during which time she was given an exercise regime, including walking. She was then passed fit enough to return home to the US for her rehabilition - with its market driven health system, which President Barack Obama is trying to overhaul. His opposition appears to be coming from self-interest groups in the American health system, including the vast health insurance lobby.

So far there has really only been a trickle of clients such as ‘Heather’ seeking treatment outside the US. This has become known as “medical tourism”.

How will this affect medical treatment for local Kiwis in the future? If this trickle becomes the flood that is anticipated it could well affect costs here in New Zealand. NZ could handle 2000-5000 clients a year, but if a tsunami of 20,000 clients hit NZ annually there could well be ramifications for the NZ health system - availabilty for operations could be compromised and costs could soar, affecting our state system as well.

There is no doubt that the estimated 15 million or so Americans will be going somewhere offshore from America in future years, and NZ will become a desirable destination and will get its share of an industry that could be equivalent to its present multimillion dollar wine industry. But what sort of “strain” could be put on the NZ health system? Could there be just a little temptation to squeeze in some foreign clients into the NZ public health system too?

This is not a personal criticism of the American system, of your political parties, or politicians involved. It begs the question why 48 million American citizens have not, or appear not to be able afford health insurance; and why former President Bill Clinton and current President Barack Obama has introduced and/or is currently introducing legislation, respectively.

As a citizen of New Zealand, which has had a public health system for seventy years paid directly from taxation, I cannot understand the political difficulties your society is currently having with the proposed Obama legislation. It is certainly not socialism, but social democracy in action. And it appears not to put the current insured system at risk, but creates alternative funding for those currently not insured and therefore unable to obtain satisfactory healthcare for there families. Is that really a bad thing? Is your system really just when millions of your fellow citizens have to raise funds and travel to countries such as New Zealand, to have healthcare they can afford?

  • An example of overseas healthcare.
  • The proposed Obama legislation

Did You Know?

Americans can obtain much cheaper healthcare overseas of similar quality to that in America

The komodo dragon is an amazing killing machine…

Published by huttriver under Uncategorized Edit This

Keeping within my broad definition of health and safety here, lets look at dragons: Not Puff the Magic dragon, or the fire -spewing kind, but the komodo dragon, which is not only the largest living lizard, but also one of the most venomous creatures on the face of the earth, scientists have discovered.

This carnivorous reptile, which reportedly rips its prey apart, kills with venom rather than bacteria laden bites, as scientists have always believed.

The komodo which grow to a length of about three metres and weigh about 6o kilograms, are actually vicious predators that prey on animals as large as deer. They attack their victims by biting and tearing at it repeatedly. Then as they have made their mark, they wait patiently as it dies a lingering death.

Scientists previously thought that because komodos also fed on carrion, their bacteria-laden mouths may infect their victims. But magnetic resonance imaging has shown they have glands that produce venom like that of many species of snakes.

Their sharp serated teeth open up the wounds into which the venom flows from the gland that runs along the jawline. This venom acts as an anticoagulant, increasing the bloodflow and reducing blood pressure, sending the victim into shock. Because  the victims blood cannot clot, it bleeds to death.

The venom makes the animals formidable killers even though their bite is actually much weaker than a crocodile.

“The teeth and the venom work in perfect harmony,” said Bryan Fry, head of the international team whose research on the lizard’s killing powers is published  in the US journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

“It works as well as a poisoned dagger,” the venom expert from Melbourne  University said.”It is an amazing killing machine.”

I had always believed their looks were far worse than their bite!

Is the US under Obama returning to export subsidies…

Is the US under Obama returning to outdated export protection subsidies…

First published at Qassia:

During the the 1980’s and 90’s the New Zealand economy underwent many fundamental changes during the changeover to market economics. Part of the process was the gradual reduction and eventual abolition of tariffs and export subsidies. This created much stress and economic hardship for New Zealanders. But the realisation that this was a process all economies were undergoing in the pursuit of a level economic playing field made the exercise more palliative.

But the announcement that the European Union and the United States were allegedly involving themselves in what could be termed another ‘trade war’ wasn’t received too well by the New Zealand Government who fear NZ could become caught in a crossfire between the two economic superpowers, and could destroy hard earned progress in international trade talks, and put Kiwis standard of living at risk. The NZ Trade Minister,Tim Groser, went close to slating the US for adopting new export subsidies for exporting dairy farmers, something described as the “most hated of all trade policy instruments”.The US move is a ‘tit for tat’ response to the EU action in January, a rather juvenile act in the 21st century one would suggest.Mr Groser said the US action effectively destroyed the immensely difficult exercise of getting the commitment to eliminate export subsidies as part of the World Trade Organisation’s Doha trade talks, begun in 2001. “The US and EU have gone back to sucking on that particular teat again”. he said. The US Dairy Export Incentive Program will pay exporters cash bonuses, enabling them to sell at lower prices to be more competitive. A return to the future, one could well say!

New Zealand, a nation of only 4.3 million people earns more than $6.3 billion in dairy exports annually, and were vulnerable to price levels and the potential damage if the situation escalated. The damage would not only affect NZ farmers, but the country as a whole - New Zealand’s standard of living could deteriorate. It is potentially an extremely difficult situation. This would not be a positive signal to the rest of the world during the most severe economic contraction since the 1930’s. Trade protection and retaliation is considered as being part of the Ark. Hopefully commonsense will prevail in both the US and EU. Not a great signal from President Obama and the US Government at a time it seeks increased military support for its Afghanistan campaign against the Taleban?

Coincidence, happenstance, and a blinking miracle…

Published by huttriver under Uncategorized Edit This

My grandson, Kellie

My grandson’s disappearance on Sunday and reappearance this morning suggests too many coincidences.

There is absolutely no comparison to how I felt at 6 am and 7-15 am this morning.

At 6 am I felt deeply concerned and beginning to think of the worst possible scenario in relation to my grandson’s disappearance. I’m not a deeply religious person, but I don’t discount the power of prayer either. I believe a number of prayers were made across the Pacific Ocean to seek a higher power to bring Kellie home to us.

Do you believe in coincidences? How many can possibly go together? Once is a coincidence, twice is a happenstance and thrice is a blinking miracle!

What made Kellie’s grandmother’s niece’s husband decide to go to work this morning after making a decision not to earlier? He became the right person at the right time to drive through that particular roundabout just after 7 am this morning. As he drove through young Kellie was walking through in the other direction. Coincidence? Kellie had apparently been walking back from Wellington City about ten miles away at that time of the morning. Coincidence?

We had all believed that Kellie had gone bush on Sunday afternoon, and was in the eastern hills above Taita, Lower Hutt. Kellie had actually gone into Wellington City on his own for the first time on Sunday and spent the next night and day there, returning to the Hutt Valley early this morning. We don’t know who he met or saw there. He had some money and probably bought something to eat and some Coca Cola, his favourite, to drink. He had also been under cover from the elements somewhere - his clothing was dry but his shoes damp from walking beside the rail line. Another coincidence?

At 7-15 am this more I was a much happier man and grandfather after learning he was on his way home in a police patrol car. The local daily newspaper, the Dominion Post, who will be writing a story about Kellie’s disappearance and reappearance tomorrow, sent a camera-man to take a few shots for tomorrow’s issue. Lance, the niece’s husband is the hero of the hour and was photographed with Kellie and his grandmother. Grandfather stayed in the background because getting photographed for newspapers is not his scene.

Coincidence, happenstance and a blinking miracle

Palm Oil action in Finland - another Greenpeace protest…

Published by huttriver under Uncategorized Edit This

Greenpeace protestBefore most of us even had our first cup of coffee this morning, 32 activists from Finland and Sweden were up and taking action at a palm oil diesel refinery in Porvoo, Finland. Neste Oil, an oil refining company that is largely owned by the Finnish government, has plans to rapidly expand over the next three years - to become the world’s largest consumer of palm oil. Palm oil production is the leading cause of deforestation in Southeast Asia. Rainforests and peatlands are cleared and burned to make way for palm oil plantations releasing huge amounts of carbon dioxiode. This destructive practice is the leading reason why Indonesia is now the third largest greenhouse gas emitter in the world. If that doesn’t sound bad enough we can also blame this rampant deforestation for pushing species like the orang-utan and the Sumatran tiger to the brink of extinction.

The activists will be at the plant as long as they can demanding that Neste Oil stop contributing to forest destruction that is contributing to climate change. Do your part and join them in the action. Send a letter to Neste Oil and ask them to stop using palm oil in NExBTL diesel and to instead find a sustainable raw material before putting their planned NExBTL refineries into operation.

Neste Oil uses palm oil as the main component of the NExBTL-diesel and markets it as an environmentally-friendly alternative to fossil fuels. This ‘green’ marketing contradicts the warnings that climate scientists issued last year that palm oil grown on deforested land is many times more damaging to the climate than conventional fuels.

Update:

All 32 activists at a palm oil diesel refinery in Porvoo, Finland have been arrested by police. 6 of the activists have already ben released and we are waiting for the release of the remaining activists.

Do your part. Join these brave activists and take action - Send a letter to Neste Oil and ask them to stop using palm oil in NExBTL diesel and to instead find a sustainable raw material before putting their planned NExBTL refineries into operation

Busier solar storm periods - how will this affect planet earth…

Published by huttriver under Uncategorized Edit This

Planet Earth

The sun is moving into a busier period for sunspots. Forecasters expect a relatively mild outbreak by historical standards, but one major solar storm can cause havoc with satellites and electrical systems.

Like hurricanes, a weak cycle refers to the number of storms, but it only takes one powerful storm to create chaos, said scientist Doug Biesecker of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s space weather prediction centre.

A report by the National Academy of Sciences found that if a storm as severe as one in 1859 occurred today, it could cause US$1 trillion to US$2 trillion in damage the first year and require four to 10 years for recovery.

The 1859 storm shorted out telegraph wires, causing fires in North America and Europe, sent readings of Earth’s magnetic field soaring, and produced northern lights so bright that people read newspapers by their light.

Today there is a lot more than telegraph lines at stake. Vulnerable electrical grids circle the globe, satellites now vital for all forms of communications can be severely disrupted along with the global positioning system. Indeed, the panel warned that a strong blast of solar wind can threaten national security, transportation, financial services and other essential functions.

The solar prediction centre works closely with industry and government agencies to make sure they are prepared with changes in activity and prepared to respond when damage occurs, Biesecker explained in a briefing.

While the most extreme events seem unlikely this time, there are likely to be smaller scale disruptions to electrical service, airline flights, satellite signals and television, radio and cell phones.

On the plus side, the solar storms promote the colourful auroras, known as the northern and southern lights, high in the sky over polar areas.

An international panel headed by Biesecker said it expects the upcoming solar cycle to be the weakest since 1928.

The prediction calls for the solar cycle to peak in May 2013 with 90 sunspots per day, averaged over a month. If the prediction proves correct it will be the weakest cycle since a peak of 78 daily sunspots in 1928.

Measurement of sunspot cycles began in the 1750s.

The panel described solar storms as eruptions of energy and matter that escape from the sun. At least some of this heads toward the Earth.

Solar cycles of more and fewer sunspots last several years and the cycle currently building up will be number 24 since counting began.

National Weather Service Director David L. Johnson cautioned that issuing such long-term outlooks is a still developing field.

“Issuing a cycle prediction of the onset this far in advance lies on the very edge of what we know about the sun,” he said in a statement.

It’s only the third time researchers have tried to make such a forecast. In 1989 a panel predicted Cycle 22, which peaked that same year. And in 1996 scientists predicted Cycle 23.

Both earlier groups did better at predicting timing than intensity, according to Biesecker.

The last solar minimum occurred in December, the researchers said.

W Dean Pesnell of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration said the forecasts are based on such indicators as the strength of the sun’s magnetic field at the poles and the reaction of the Earth’s magnetic field to the sun. Both are weak right now, he said, with only a few sunspots visible since 2007.

A preliminary forecast issued in 2007 was split over the outlook for the upcoming cycle, Biesecker explained that the researchers have now reached consensus.

The Manuka factor - honey from the NZ manuka tree…

Published by huttriver under Uncategorized Edit This

240px-manukaflowers.jpgCool

First published at Qassia:

Honey made by bees from the nectar of New Zealand’s manuka tree, leptospermum scoparium, contains an antibacterial property not found in other honeys. Honey from the Australian tree leptospermum polygalifollum, or jelly bush, also has this property. The property has become known as Unique Manuka Factor, UMF, and the honey as active manuka honey. One of the compounds identified in this particular honey is metylglyxol, although it appears that the antibacterial property relies on the interaction of this compound with other elements in the honey. The quantity of UMF in manuka honey varies.

Research by Waikato University in New Zealand’s North Island, suggests its antibacterial activity is about twice as effective as other honey against Eschericihia co;i and Enteroocci, common causes of infections in wounds. It ismuch more effective than other honey against Helicobacter pylori, a common cause of peptic ulcers.

The University says the evidence that Active Manuka honey is more effective than other honey is not conclusive however. Not quite a miracle, but pretty close to it!

The intense flavour of dark manuka honey was once so disliked it was added to cow feed or simply washed away.

Today it earns such a premium on the export market that fake manuka honey has been a serious problem - industry sources say twice as much manuka honey is sold than produced in New Zealand.

To Mexico with love - a date with a miracle cure…

Published by huttriver under Uncategorized Edit This

Human stem cellsCryThis story emanating from the Wellington daily, Dominion Post yesterday,  tugged at my heartstrings; I’m really an old softie, but this was different.

The Mexican Swine flu outbreak has reportedly delayed a Levin ( near Wellington) family’s hunt for a miracle cure for their young daughter.

Young Jaide Pearson is just eight years old, the age of one of my own granddaughters. She is a blind quadriplegic who also suffers from cerebal palsy. What on earth did she do to someone in a previous life? Her mother, Jayne, and granddad Norm, had planned to take her to a pioneering clinic in Tijuana, Mexico, next month after she was accepted for experimental stem cell therapy.

Then along came the  Swine flu outbreak in Mexico, with its much debated figures concerning infected people and those who have died - and in the process forced this family to delay the trip until September of this year, 2009.

Jaide had apparently suffered a haemorrhage in the womb, and was subsequently born with severe brain damage. The Fernando Ramirez clinic in Tijuana can hopefully provide a miracle cure for little  Jaide, who is also mute!

Her mother, Jayne,  wants her to have a better quality of life, but they couldn’t risk taking her to Mexico during the flu epidemic and had to wait until the risk had been contained.

Granddad Norm said the therapy which involves inserting stem cells into Jaide’s brain from the umbilical cords of healthy full-term babies, had the potential to cure her. “We would be delighted if she could see, it would be wonderful if she could walk. I would love her to be able to put her arms around me to give me a cuddle.” he said.

I have a granddaughter of the same age and fully understand just how Norm feels, but through the grace of god our family has never had to deal with such health problems that he and his family has had to endure.

The family has been told to expect improvements within the 180 days after the procedure - which is not medically approved in many countries, including New Zealand.

These hopes were sparked by a TV documentary last February, reportedly showing  a 2 year old Dunedin, NZ, cerebral palsy sufferer, Caleb Turner’s, remarkable improvement after undergoing treatment in Mexico. An 8 year old legally blind boy who also featured in the documentary was reported to have recovered almost perfect vision as a result  of the therapy as well. While she is severely handicapped, there have been some reportedly good results from stem cell therapy.

Who wouldn’t try the therapy  just on the off-chance it will work, even if it has been disclaimed by mainstream medical authorities and experts? If I was in the same situation as Jaide’s family, I’m sure I would be pushing to try this treatment and becoming involved  in various fundraising schemes to get my granddaughter to Mexico as well. Kiaora.

Fighting the virus - the case for cervical cancer protection…

Published by huttriver under Uncategorized Edit This

cervical cancer vaccineFrownFighting the virus  -  the case for cervical cancer protection. Let me state from the outset that this is a subject that I, personally, know little about. But this  has been the subject of both the printed media, radio talk back and  television in recent days.

Dozens of New Zealand schools have decided to opt out of the government’s mass immunisation program to protect girls against cervical cancer.  There has been considerable comment on both sides of the argument.

Girls as young as 12 years old  started receiving vaccinations at their schools in Feb 2009. However, there has been 50 adverse reactions reported so far this year, with ten reports of fainting and one of an allergic reaction.

The previous Labour-led Government had qualified the value of its program by claiming the future death rate of cervical cancer would be halved in future decades by the use of the $177 million program over five years to provide free immunisations.

Each year there are 180 diagnoses of cervical cancer and about 60 women die from it. I wonder how this compares with Australian, British and North American  diagnoses?

The Health Ministry’s chief adviser for population health, had confirmed 78 schools had declined to participate further in the program.

The program has been controversial from the beginning, with morals campaigners objecting to the vaccinations of girls against a cancer caused only by sexual  activity.

The Womens Health Action group claimed the program was introduced too quickly and had asked for an urgent review.

The Privacy Commissioner had said her office had been working with the Health Ministry and the School Trustees Association to check on complaints about personal information contained in rolls being released. This should help to discover the faults in the first immunisation and how it could be managed better.

I wonder if Australia, Britain and North America have similar immunisation programs?

Just what is Cervical Cancer and how is the virus being fought?

1/ Cervical cancer is caused by the human papilloma virus. Some strains of HPV lead to cervical cancer.

2/ The HPV infection that causes cervical cancer is spread through sexual contact.

3/ The Gardasil vaccine protects against two HPV types that cause most cervical cancers and genital warts - provided a person is not infected already.

4/ An immunisation program began in September, offered to women born in 1990 and 1991, and younger school leavers.

5/ Women still need to have cervical smear tests.

6/ The school - based vaccination program begun  this year is available to girls in years 8 to 13,

7/ The vaccine is most effective when given to girls who have never been sexually active.

I hope this has proven useful to understand why an immunisation program was thought necessary in New Zealand. How does it compare to other overseas programs?
